I watched a small flock of redpolls the other day, they were feeding high up in some birch trees. Now I'd like to know whether they are mealy or lesser redpolls and how exactly you can tell - I looked at different pix on google and my guess is mealy redpolls but I'm not 100% sure.
I'm afraid the photos aren't overly brilliant but like I said, they were quite far away and it was raining & extremely windy. Thank you very much for your help. :)

I think Mealy and Lesser Redpoll are not 100% 'splittable' frrom these shots, but I would favour Mealy from the overall pallour and the reduced ventral streaking.
