Has anybody on here used that combo?

I'm looking for a decent tripod and head combo, the heaviest equipment it needs to support would be a gripped 500d and 100-400.

My current tripod doesn't cut the mustard and has threaded on the centre section so won't close properly so thought about buying something decent.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for any typo's away from home, on the phone after a couple of wines!

If it's twice as good as the 283 & free head combo for £50 then it will be AWESOME !!!

524 head? Do you mean 528? Whilst the head is sturdy, it doesn't have much resistance when you unscrew the arms and I was a bit disappointed with it TBH. I've just bought a Manfrotto 498RC2 which I'm much happier with, but then I don't have a 100-400 to put on it, so I have no idea what the extra weight would do to the ease of manoeuvrability of a ball head. Personally, I'd go for a more expensive head, but the 528 will certainly do if money is tight.

HTH.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm looking to spend approx £250 for the tripod, head and a plate for the 100-400 and really don't have a clue when it comes to Tripods, I want something that will last and do the job.

Only reason I was looking at RedSnapper is that I have the Duo bag which am very impressed with and have been impressed with their service so far.

If anyone has nay better suggestions I am all ears :D

I've had that head and it's not a bad bit of kit for budget price.

I've since gone from a pan and tilt over to a ball head and I'm really glad i did :-)
