Lovely weather so I took a trip to Lathkill Dale today with the intention of taking some dippers. I did see dippers but they were all skulking around in the shadows. However a flash of orange caught my eye as it flew across the river. I followed it a little way up the hillside and found it to be a lovely male redstart - my first in this country.

Great shot what a beauty of a bird saw one the other day on a power overhead wire but too far away for a shot but like these lots!

Thanks Elvis. This one was flitting about all over the hillside. I had to pick my spot and sit and wait for well over an hour before he came in range.

Its a great place for Dippers and Kingfishers but ive never seen a Redstart

It's a favourite location of mine too but I've not seen a redstart there before.

Ive never seen one of these. Great set (y)

Thanks. It was an unexpected treat to see him.

Nice set. Another bird to add to my "yet to see" list.

Thanks

Nice catch Ken, lovely shots of a scarce one (y)

Thanks Martyn.

Lovely images of a great little bird. Ken, try Milldale for the dippers.
