Would there be any big cons to buying a refurbished canon model? On eBay you can find a refurbished 50D for less than £550 with 12 month warranty. I have a 500D now and I am trying to weigh up the pros and cons of seling the 500D and getting a refurbished 50D

HELP :amstupid:

If it comes from Canons ebay site the only difference from new is the price and it has been used. Some camera's are faulty returns, some are just open box demo camera's. They come in a brown box instead of the fancy ones but still have a 12 months warranty.
As long as the camera is externaly perfect I'd have a punt.
One thing though that I've found is that if you shop around you can get the full boxed version for less in a lot of cases.

I have just bought a refurb 50D for £508 inc postage on ebay. There are several on there for that price BIN.

No issues except the charger isnt a UK one, but an adapter was included. It came in Canon white box and has all the accesories you'd expect. It has a 90 day warranty with the seller, but for less money than a second hand model with no warranty, thats fine with me.

I checked the shutter count before I fired a shot and it was 104!

I also used Quidco before paying, so I got another £6-7 cashback too, so in total the camera was only just over £500.

It was eBay user photodirect. Arrived within 2 days and had good contact throughout. I'm on my phone so can't post a direct link.

I just missed one at £504, but I was quite happy with £508!
