Relocate Aperture Library to external, how?

I have filled my drive on my Imac and need to move everything over to a new external i have bought as a main photo drive (still have backup drives) How do i do this?

Do I just copy the library over to the new drive, delete the old one and then point the files to the new location?

Sorry for the silly question, I just have too much stuff to risk losing it all by not checking.

All I do is to copy the library to the external, Then click on it to open it, when all is checked as OK I delete the original from the internal Drive.

Am copying library over now, taking a while, so then I just make that the master and then when working delete the other one?

By clicking on the copy it will become the master, when connected

Thanks for your help Graham worked like a dream. Just creating new vaults, consolidating things and am now all good to go again. Hopefully 1.5 TB will take a little while to fill, although I am getting a 5D2 soon, so you never know.
