Remote release with a lock for long exposures ?

I need a remote release for a Canon 5d2 which doesn't need to be wireless or anything fancy, just a basic one with a lock so that I can make exposures over 30 seconds and ideally one that cold fingers can operate !

Any suggestions ?

I know mine's for Nikons but I'm fairly sure the only difference is the connector - I have a Hama cabled electronic release which came from Amazon a few years ago. Decent sized button which slides to lock the shutter open - no bells or whistles, sounds exactly what you're after!

If you don't mind it taking two weeks to arrive I'd get a cheap one from dx, it's got the sliding lock switch and is an basically a copy of the canon remote. I've got this one for my 50D and it's been fine:

yes i have a hama one for canon wireless hold for a few seconds on bulb and hold the shutter open, press again to close the shutter. works great

Thank you guys - not sure I could wait 2 weeks for anything and as my 10 stop filter is due to arrive in a few days I think I'll be going for the one you suggest Nod !

The one like I've got isn't on page 1, Steve. Keep going down until you find one you're happy with, ideally from Amazon rather than one of its marketplace resellers unless you know and trust the reseller.

Why not go for the Canon original RC-06? It's just over a tenner - and on B setting you press it once to open the shutter, and again to close the shutter.. All wireless.. Very simple Just checked its £13 something from Amazon (direct)...

I was under the impression that the Canon ones were majorly expensive...!

Before I saw both your post and Nods about his not being on the first page I placed an order for the one on the top of the page 1 but at just over 2 quid it has to be worth a try - this one

You can get knockoff Chinese wired remotes off ebay for a couple of quid.

The genuine Canon one is a lot nicer to use TBH, the whole thing has a more quality feel about it.
