Hi there,

I've been searching the web for a remote shutter release, preferably a wireless one for my Nikon d3100, now I have read on some places that remote shutter release is not compatible for the Nikon d3100? Is this true? If this is not true any recommendation to which one to get, don't need a all singing all dancing one as I'm a beginner just want a wireless one.

I have a Nikon Ml-L3 for my D7000, it was very cheap (<£10 from Amazon from recollection) and works fine for me, I cannot see why it will not work on your D3100 although I do think you may need to be pointing it at the front of the camera as I don't think there is a rear infra red point on the back as there is on the D7000. Your manual should definitely tell you if its compatible.

I toyed with the idea of getting a wireless remote, and got a wired one for less than a fiver from fleabay to put me on for the time being. Ive never needed to use a wireless one since and kept the cheapo wired one ever since. For a couple of quid extra you can get wired triggers with timers on for long exposures.

That one on the link you sent me is I available now, but yeh something like that, I think I'll go with a wired one and start with that first. Thanks for the help.
 
I got a Pixma one from Amazon but I have just checked and it is no longer in stock.

I'm contemplating this for a D200. I assume they do it for other cameras. Would be useful if anyone has feedback on this unit :thumbs:

No, that's the manufacturer's website. They are not retailers.

I got mine from Clifton Cameras - about £45. Maybe worth while Googling around.
