Replacing my 40D, with what?

So I'm looking to replace my 40D I will be keeping as a back up but would like to upgrade.

Recently I seem to be using the camera my for sport and motocross.

I was looking at a 5D mk I but I like the 1d mk ii

Anything anyone would suggest and why

Nearly forgot to mention £1000 limit

You'd get a pair of 1D Mkiis for £1000, or 1 and another lens, maybe a 70-200 F4?

Alternatively you could get a 1D Mkiii for that money.

The AF is fantastic for motorsport, as is the weathersealing (assuming you use weathersealed lenses)

I just replaced my 50D with a 5Dc and a mkiiN

Without a doubt for sports you want the 1D. I had hoped that the 5D wouldn't be as bad with the AF as people said... but I have to admit it is.

The full frame on the 5D is stunning though but there isn't a huge amount in it....

Defo something with the 1D range for sports... its a heavy beast though!
If you want, you can have my 5Dc and 1Dn Mkii for £1100 to compare them

5d mk1 is no good for anything slightly sporty, you shouldnt even be considering it. Your 40d is better for shooting sport than the 5d mk1.

1d series or 7d for serious sport.

A 1D IIn and the rest on a lens is my suggestion. 40D's still a great camera. I'm sure I'll regret selling mine at some point in the near future.

I shall have a look around for a 1d ii n, if not I'll put the extra to it and order a 7d from mifsuds (if I'm aloud, don't tell the wife ;-) )
