Yes
I need to try and replace the inside cover on my Macbook as the edges are broken where the screen/top cover comes down onto it when you close it (For clarification it's the part your wrists sit on when you type).

Does anyone have any experience of replacing, or can point me in the direction of a site where I can get some advice/guidance for doing it and where to get the replacement parts from.

Cheers

Is it where you put your wrists?
If so phone apple as its a known fault and they will replace the top cover free, even if its out of warranty

I did it on a white MacBook that I brought off ebay which was 18 months out of warranty

As above, pop into your local Apple store, they really are a helpful bunch

Snap, I have the same problem

already had one replaced under Applecare, now this one is cracked, if you are comfortable taking your Macbook apart, you can pick replacement top covers on ebay for around £50, there's a guide at http://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Core_Duo that shows you how step by step

:)

Thanks Guys, I might give the ifixit.com guide a go :bonk:

My Mac is a couple of years old now or so, so is well out of waranty, in truth I don't particularly want to be without it either :D

Maybe it's a good opportunity to upgrade the HDD as well while its apart as well

This happened on my old one, apple store rang me up the next day to say it had been fixed. IMO, I'd go in, they are a superb bunch of people :)
