resizing images for gallery

hi all, new to the forum and also to digital manipulation..
i have elements and CS2 and would like advice on how to resize my images so i can get them into a gallery

Welcome scubataf,

Tis easy,

Go to "image" at top of screen then, in the dropdown box go to " resize image" input your required size making sure the X and Y dimensions are locked or linked together, sometimes called aspect ratio. Thats it.

ok that the pixel size sorted, how do i go about checking if the file size is below the 200kb requirement and if not how do i change that..

Do as Doozie says, but then go to File, Save for Web, where you can set quality of jpeg and choose a version with a size less than 200kb.
