Yes
Hi,

I've got a set of these, purchased to use with Canon.

Can these be used with Nikon - or are the 602's brand specific.

Only reason I ask, is that I know someone that wants to attempt off camera flash and thought they could try this before choosing a route.

Many thanks in advance

Phil

Yes they are brand specific, the hot shoe pin layout is different.

I think there's two different types that betwen them fit most brands, but I think canon and nikon require different ones... Look up cotswold photographic on ebay, they explain it on their pages for their rf 602s

Hmmmmm - Thank you gentlefolk......

BAsed on the fact that the pins will be a different layout..... a Nikon specific trigger will be needed.

I suppose You can use the Canon receiver on a Canon flash and trigger that with a Nikon transmitter on a Nikon camera ?

SO, My canon stuff won't be any good then for him to test it out.......

Many thanks

Phil

Yes they are brand specific, the hot shoe pin layout is different.

That only applies to the brand-specific wake-up function if using them on, say a D300 to trigger an SB900, other than that you can use any trigger on any camera, there is no difference with regard to the actual triggering.

So Graham, to set that you supplied me for my Canon 400D, I can offer to a freind to test out off camera flash on his Nikon, before he decides which route to take ??

Cheers

Yes, as Graham says. The only other thing that is brand-specific is the cable if you use it as a remote camera release (as opposed to flash) if you got one with the kit. You just need one with the right plug on it. Only a couple of quid.

Yes, they'll work fine, I've used Canon ones on my G10, then on the D300 and on the Panasonic GF-1 without problem
