Right so im looking for making a rig soon but cant find any suctions cups that would work well, this thread can therefore insight people into how they are built and what sort of price ranges...

can you post a picture of your rigs along with the equipment used?

really would like to hear about the homemade ones!

pros / cons?

The trouble with cheap suction cups is they are likely to damage the cars, plus you need to keep them really clean.
Crewfix do double, triple and quad sucker floor tile liftres

which I've seen used which would be ok on windows but I'd never use them on paintwork. I've got the Manfrotto suction cups which never leave a mark after a wipe over with a microfibre cloth.
