B&W Ring Tailed Lemur - Marwell Zoo

As you asked for an opinion,
there is too much negative space behind the Lemur.
As its looking forward, there should be more space in front, than behind it.

Its also quite soft, was it shot through glass or wire?
Nothing that a bit of the good old sharpening tool wouldn't sort out.
A levels / contrast boost would also stand out a little more :)

Having said all that,
its a very nice for a first attempt (y)
 
Very good portrait agree that he needs to be more to the left
Its difficult shooting though glass but its worth trying to find a clean un scratched area of glass that makes it a lot easier to get sharp shots
 
Can I ask how you processed it to mono or was it shot straight as mono?
