Been struggling with IQ on my new camera and what looks ok on the monitor looks hazy once uploaded :(

Then today I went back to an old 75-300mm Nikkor lens and ran the image through noiseware and hey presto!

I think it's ok but I'm open to suggestions

Depends on your sharpening during resizing the image.

Theres no exif so cant tell aperture, looks to me like the eye is sharp but the rear of the bird is soft. Could be down to large an aperture.
EDIT just seen bottom of post maybe F9 or F11 would have been a better choice.

1/40 sec is far too slow ... personally I would suggest 1/250 minimum, 1/500 ideal for perched birds, 1/1000 minimum for in flight stuff (y)
 
Good capture Paul and some sound advice given, can you post up the original conversion before applying the noise reduction?
