Robot 1 camera

Hi, Im hoping someone can help me out here.

I picked up a pretty tidy Otto Berning Robot 1 camera - it feels exceptionally well built and comes armed with a Zeiss Tessar 2.8mm lens.

I'd love to put some film through it, it seems to fire and the timings seem reasonably accurate. My problem is that the camera was released before spooled film and a regular 35mm canister is too big to fit into the leader slot. The camera comes with two metal chambers with spools inside. Would I have to pre load these chambers in a dark room and then remove in the same manner? I had a go with a dud roll and its was pretty tricky in daylight - I doubt Id manage in dark room.

I cant seem to find any videos or pages showing a work around and wondered if anyone has any ideas? I have access to a darkroom.

Boy that took me back. Buying bulk film and loading cassettes. No wonder digital is the success it is.
