I am visiting this area in the near future in the near future and it looks like there are 4 RSPB reserves. Any recommendations on which one is best for bird photography would be appreciated. We were also looking at boat trips but nothing is available.

A walk up from Budleigh Salterton towards Otterton gives good views over the lower Otter and there's a shelter/hide. The fields on the other side of the path are often full of geese and other species. There's an RSPB shop upstairs from Cotswold Outdoor shop at Dart's Farm near Topsham and they should be able to point you in the right direction. Not sure when the visitors' centre at Dawlish Warren opens but they're quite helpful too.

The Stuart Line bird watching cruises run between November and March and are fully booked this side of November (I looked the other day). If you can get on one some time they're well worth it. I'll be going again next winter. Good pasties too........ :)
