Ruddy ducks

I spent a couple of hours at Ladywalk yesterday and saw these Ruddy Ducks the like of which I had never seen before. Dark cap and a sky blue bill looking as if he had just dipped his bill in a paint pot. I hadn't taken an id book with me so I had to come home to look up what I had seen.

They were far too far away to photograph seriously but I had to record them as they were totally new to me. Taken with 500m + 1.7TC and savagely cropped so they are rather soft.

I'll give you a clue but it is best seen in the flesh so to speak... ... they use that there blue monstrosity to good effect...
