RX10 V

When the price drops, I might well buy one. Great compromise as a holiday camera.

BTW, this is already under discussion in another thread...

The discussion is in this thread I'm guessing:

I think it's worth having its own thread for visibility though and specifically for the mkV.

I guess Sony see a market for this type of camera although I'm surprised there isn't an updated RX100 which I think has more use in the current market. The mk7 has a micro USB socket so to get around the EU rules they've been apparently shipping it with a micro USB charger instead although when I looked last time they seemed to be in short supply worldwide. I find the RX100mk7 very handy because it's small enough to fit in a jacket pocket unlike most of my cameras and the 200mm focal range means it can take shots the phone just can't.

I can see the appeal of a fixed lens all in one camera with a great zoom range and the 1in sensor is a good step up from the tiny 1/2.3in sensor in most bridge cameras. However I did buy one in the past but I struggled to find a use for it because if I had space to take the RX10 out, I could take a mirrorless camera with a superzoom lens. I know everything is expensive these days but the RX10 V seems a lot compared to the mirrorless cameras out there and while people will point to the reach of the RX10's lens, I wouldn't say it's comparable to a bigger sensor at 600mm since there's a lot more scope to crop.

While i don't think it's worth it's price tag, I'd have still forked out for one if they hadn't gimped it artificially.
They should have added pre-capture at the minimum but could have added fully articulated LCD and better EVF

I take a 10 and a 100 on holiday. As you say, the 100 slips into a pocket (even in its leather case!) and covers most situations for snaps but the 10 has all that extra reach for when it's needed (or wanted!)

I tend to use separate chargers rather than doing it in the cameras and they both use USB micro rather than C... A selection of cables helps.

I guess we'll see how it sells. I do suspect it wont be as popular as it once was as people use their phones nowadays.
Apart from die hard rx10 owners im not sure many others will buy this.
