Hi Guys,

I just had a quick play with my RX100 and it's tiny. I've had a read up on hand/thumb grips and when i read that the Sony one is attached with double sided tape then i thought it's only a matter of time before this fell off and the camera is a goner. Does anyone use this and are there any alternatives?

Regards

Scott

I found mine difficult to hold securely. I added this grip http://www.kleptography.com/rf/#camera_rx100. But that wasn't enough so I bought some of this high grip tape http://www.sailboats.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=PSP Soft Grip 50mm x 4M Black as well.

I stuck the tape over the grip, and at strategic points around the camera. It's just about manageable now for the more ham-fisted members of the population.

I was quite careful about the placement of the tape and it actually looks OK. :).

Oh. And I wouldn't worry about the grip falling off. The double sided tape used to fix the grip is very strong.

I haven't had the need for any additional grippy tape though. ;) The grip is fixed very firmly and I have never had any concerns over it falling off.

Another vote for the Richard Franiec grip, had mine on for ages and its rock solid still...

It would be quite an effort to get it off I think.

theres a cheapish rubber ones on ebay, my dp1 has one from previous owner and that seems fine, also had a frenic or whatever grip which is rather lovely on a older dp :)

whats that tape like? i want some grip tape for a grip/L bracket thing ive got, does it do corners well and does it have any stretch to it?

There's a little bit of stretch to it, but not an enormous amount. It wraps around an edge OK. But I don't think you could get it to mould round a sharp "2D" corner.
