Stopped off on my way back from visiting family yesterday afternoon.

Thought I'd try something from different angles to the usual.

All with 1Ds MKII+ tripod, timer, mirror lock-up

very good
the slow exposure makes the scene unreal! (y)

#3 for me exellent (y)

I've seen some of your previous photos of this pier, which were better, not that these are at all bad.

No2 I think the light in the centre is a wee bit overpowering.....not tried it, but read in a mag that a way to bring this under control is to make a blue peter style peice of card...paint it black, glue/attach it onto a stick....compose, press your shutter, then cover only the strong light source (so you will probably need to make more than one differing in size and shape, mag example was the size of a 50p) for a portion of the exposure, removing before the mirror pops back at exposure end......and this is supposed to suppress the light source enough to get a better balanced exposure....

Hope this makes sense.....it's something I'll give a bash at some point, but makes sense to me.

the colours and crispness are stunning, but i'm afraid with the compositions i have been spoiled a bit by your earlier shots. with the second shot i don't find the center light overpowering but it feels almost like the pier is twisted with the boards not being straight on to the camera.(y) What white balance setting did you use to balance the artificial light sources?

All good and thanks for sharing the shooting info.

#1 is my fave of the bunch.

I'm just amazed at the colours you manage to get. I agree with comments above, your previous shots from this location are far superior, But these are still great.

The colours and the mistyness make the 1st and 3rd 1s a beaut. WD

Shots 1 & 3 are spectacular Les. The colours and composition of these shots are excellent..(y)
