Hi , I am considering buying the Samsung EX1 to replace my Panny TZ5 . It fits my budget, has more manual control than the TZ5 and I like the look of the articulated Amoled screen. I just wondered if there are any members on here who own or have used the EX1 who could give their opinion on it . Thanks in advance.

I own one. I bought it as a compact to carry on those days/nights out when a dslr is too bulky.
Where I can't fault it's IQ and controls t's a bit too big and heavy to really be a 'pocket' camera. This means I don't take it out as much as I would. In hindsight an S95 would have been a better choice for me, after all, the best camera in the world is the one you have with you!
Get yourself into Jessops and have a grope with the EX-1 before you part with your cash.

Hi Wookee thanks for the reply. Unfortunately none of the local camera shops have one in store. I have held an S95 and it felt just too small for my hands, the LX5 is not much bigger than my TZ5 which I find ok size wise but unfortunately out of my budget at the moment. :thumbsdown:

I have one for general snapping, its an excellent camera I use it quite a bit for landscapes as it goes pretty wide, yes for a compact it has some weight but thats because its a metal body so for me its a bonus, great in low light due to f1.8, startup time is quick and some decent accessories available as you have a metal ring that screws off so you can add fisheyes etc... also I use a yongnuo yn462 flash for bounce and although it looks funny the camera holds the flash really well, again I put this down to the excellent build quality of the camera.
