Hello its my first post here ive been looking into getting an entry level dslr either nikon d40 or sony a 200.
But i was in a local shop today and they had a samsung gx1 with 18-55 lens new for £150.
Ive got to admit id looked at the newer samsung cameras only briefly as they were out of my price bracket and had never seen this model.
What i was wondering was if this would be somewhere to start from or would i be better going for one of the above two,i dont think id be getting into photography really seriously but then again i dont want to make a mistake by going for cheapness.
Can anyone help me out on this one.
 
I have a samsung Gx1s and love it. it takes pentax k fit lenses so has a wide variety of second hand lenses available

love my camera and for an entry level DSLR its fantastic and wouldnt change it for anything else. the build quality is fantastic and the picture qulity is superb.


would recommend it without a second thought.....

dont give into the canon & nikon world domination
 
The GX1 is actually a rebadged Pentax * st DL which is an excellent (but old) camera now. Personally I would go with something newer although I would never say Samsung are not a decenr DSLR maker .. especially as their DSLR cameras are all basically Pentax models in different clothes.
 
hmmm im even more baffled than ever now,i think ill have to sleep on it.
