Samyang 24mm f/1.4

Anyone bought/use a Samyang 24mm f/1.4 manual lens..?

Would love to hear your views/thoughs please.


Seems a good quality fast manual lens for £499.

I'd personally struggle to justify £500 on a manual lens - I'd rather stick with the Canon version at twice the price for the convenience of autofocus. It's not wide enough that focus will only rarely need adjusting, especially not indoors with f/1.4.
Then again I'm sure there are plenty of diehard photographers, and those on more of a budget, to whom this might appeal

Personally I'd just confirm they had a shop where they say they do and maybe phone them up but I'm not too suspicious that these guys are out to con.

A tempting, wide and very fast lens for full frame If it's as good as the 14/2.8 and 85/1.4 then it would be well worth a look.

Yea I'm awaiting a Samyang 14mm f/2.8 and the 35mm f/1.8 next week for my 5D (Mk1), quite fancy the 85mm f/1.8

Yes you seem to be right, they do provide quite a lot of info - I jumped to conclusions, was on my phone and didn't look them up, and had never heard of them.

I think £499 is probably not such a good price though, the lens will probably be quite a bit cheaper if you get it from lenstip.pl , which i think is the official distributor in Europe - and until they announce it it won't for sale I think.

Snap. I had my suspicions also and although I could not contact them by phone, I picked up the Samyang 85mm for a great price.

If it's anything like the 35mm f/1.4 then it will be a stunner. The 35mm is just amazing and is on my list of must have's.

This lens certainly has a look of quality, almost like the traditional Nikkor AIS lenses. Even high end lenses these days rarely seem to have such a clear set of DOF and distance scale markings, with a recent trend to put them inside a tiny plastic window so they are difficult to read. Another nice touch is a mechanical aperture dial, again much missed on many modern lenses.
