Hello all

I was just curious as to whether these cards are worthwhile or overkill on the older Canon 1D bodies...1Ds MkII and 1D MkIIN

I am fairly sure that those bodies do not even support the UDMA functions...so would it be worth buying or would the Extreme III cards be good enough?

Cheers

Overkill, extreme 3 would be more than enough.

Even the new 1dsmk3 only writes to the cards at 20mb/s in real world tests. But you do gain in very fast download times from the cards through the extreme card readers to your pc/mac.

As they say the choice is yours.

I went for the Extreme IV for my D300. I think it was a price difference of £10 (at the time) for an extra 5mb per sec read/write speed.

I need the speed but I'd say the Extreme IV has served me perfectly.

I think with the Ducati cards, they're a lot more expensive because you're paying for the name.

Agree that Extreme IIIs will be fine for your camera and the later cameras like 5D Mk II, UDMAs are the way to go.

Has also already been pointed out that the main difference will be when downloading your images to PC/laptop...

Cool!

Thanks for the responses all.

That is that one taken care of then.
