Just thought I'd post a warning and possibly get laughed at lol.
I just managed to wrangle my SB-26 off my Nikon D70 (lovely camera, pics are poop though, but I know where the fault is lol). The damn thing got jammed on for reasons outlined below. I have to say that it was the devils own bum-hole to get it off again.
There is a knack to getting the locking pin off.

There is a locking pin on the hot shoe. This is designed to stop the flash from falling off the camera. It does this very well. The idea is that once you slacken the locking wheel, it pulls the pin up and the flash can be removed. It doesn't do this well.
