Apart from Nikon themselves, they have a number of approved repairers. There's one in Stoke on Trent which I think is the nearest one to the midlands.

If your after quick turnaround I wouldn't use AJ, I have them on the list for even if theres a earthquake never use them.

I have always had great turnaround time using fixation in london...
Ive had my D3 turned around multiple times with the week!

Thanks, I saw this on the Nikon website and sent it to them today, will report back their service.

There's no such thing as "local" in the modern world. Or no such thing as "not local".

If you have NPS then send it to Nikon. If you don't then Fixation. A courier will have it there next day unless you're in the highlands. For me that's generally quicker than finding a couple of ours to walk down to my "local" camera store - though I shop there whenever I can.
 
Fixation - They are quoting less than a week for turnaround.

I sent my SB 600 in last week, got an e-mail from them the next morning confirming it had been received etc.
 
Just in time for a new one! the SB910!! 1% lighter, 1% smaller, 0% better. bargain! lol..
