Scam emails - Do you get any?

If you do, please could you PM me the email address they're coming from, I do take a lot of pleasure in wasting these scumbags time, I'm just starting a new game with them and need as many email addresses as possible.

I'm not worried about the tablet/pharm spam emails, as they're pointless tracing, but I would like anything with the following:

  • Lottery wins (that you haven't entered)
  • Dead relative type scams
  • request for help moving gold etc out of a war torn country.
etc etc.

I've got loads of them in my blacklist in Mailwasher, by loads I mean several hundred or more. They amount to 18 pages in microsoft word..your welcome to them all if you want but you sort out the ones you dont need. Don't ask me where their from, all junk afaic and too many to sort through
 
The only emails I seem to get these days are from Spammers, but they all seem to think I need Viagra, a larger penis (hello.. I don't have one!) or a Rolex!

Not really tbh, they're usually best forwarded to the banks etc involved, there isn't a great deal you can do with them apart from that... Thanks for the offer though :)

:( The bloody pharm ones are a nightmare, and there's nothing you can do about them except mark them all as spam & bin them... these are generally the fault of people having no security on their computers.
 
I'm curious as to how many people actually spend money as a result of a spam email like the pharmacy, rolex, or viagra ones? Surely no one would be so stupid or desperate.
 
Some pople must do, otherwise they wouldn't do it.. This is one of the botnets that does this kind of thing, and it's not just one or 2 computers sending this crap out, it's between 100 and 200 THOUSAND.

Just think, if 100,000 emails are sent out, and 1% spend money, thats 1000 people spending money, say a tenner each = £10000. Now they either don't send anything out, or send some crap that'll do you no good what so ever, so profits are good. Take off a portion, lets be generous and say 1/2 for the emails to be sent... thats 5k proft, or if you're sending crap out, say 3k profit.

Not bad money really

Unfortunately almost all of the email addresses used by spammers are accounts created for a single mailshot and abandonned or are the spoofed addresses of innocent net users. One thing you can be sure of - you ain't going to hurt the spammers.

I have a website and regularly get spams from myself, ie my own (spoofed) email address. Except I don't spam and would be hacked off to have the problem made worse by someone trying to play games with spammers.

I've noticed recently that I seem to get Spam emails from myself :thinking: (ie my own email address). How the heck does that happen?

you misread. I didn't say spammers. I said Scammers.

He didn't say the spammers (not scammers) were innocent, he said that they often spoofed the address of innocent people ;)
 
Hehe yeah.

Shocking when you actually read the accounts of people that fall for them. Makes you realise how awful and real these things can be.

So I then mailed him about his inconsistant stories, poor english and suggested he continued with his education.

Yes, you said scammers. However there is an almost complete overlap between the two groups. Almost every scam, from fake little blue pills or fake Rolex to dodgy investment tips and requests to log in to your bank account, starts with a spam which directs you to a website where the scam itself takes place. Even the 419 scam starts with a spam, and it's obvious that spam is involved because they almost invariably begin "Dear Friend" or similar.

And those spam emails, with the exception of the 419 ones, are not going to lead to the scammer/spammer. If you want to have fun with those you can do, go ahead, but wouldn't you rather be out 'togging?

Yep, me too. The spammers will pick random email addresses or spoof an entire domain. If it happens on a domain you can get thousands of auto replies, bounces, etc per hour. As this is usually with randomname@domain.com I just set up my mail filters to delete from the server any mail that isn't to a valid email address and I never get to see them now.
 
:LOL: some of them are unbelievable and are slightly scary! Rather you than me.:D
