Scanning problem...

I have this scanning issue that i can't seem to resolve.

My guess is that the neg isn't completely flat on the glass...

It's only a cheap flatbed epson scanner so i wasn't expecting much but is there anyway i can get rid of this and what is it called?

the negative is touching the glass - the problem you have is called Newtons Rings... The negative carrier for your scanner should hold the negativ flat, and slightly above the surface of the glass. If you look at your negative, and it's curved, try putting it in the carrier curved side upwards, so that the neg doesn't touch the glass of the flatbed.

Another solution is to get hold of some anti-newton glass and sandwich the neg between it and the flatbed.
