Hi
I'm planning to go to Scotland in March. Can anyone suggest the best places to see wild life, sea life, dear, eagle etc..

Thanks

Where abouts in Scotland are you planning to visit or does it depend on what areas you think have the best chance for photography? This is something I'm looking into at the moment and online I found the Scottish Deer Centre in Fife. I think that would be worth a visit. The Western Isles like Jura, Harris and Lewis are also good I believe. I haven't looked into areas for eagles etc but if I find any good tips/locations I'll put it here.

For captive animals - the Scottish Deer centre in Fife is alright. They have wolves and birds of prey too.

Obviously the time of year is a factor with deer but Glen Etive is a good place to go for herds. You will all also find them at the Kings House at the head of Glen Etive.

Eagles - playing percentages you're best off heading for Skye or Mull and you'll find plenty of info online for that icluding sea eagle boat trips from Portree. Brigadoon is a popular one.

Otters - Shetland is good but may not be on your radar. I've never failed to see otters at the hide at Kylerhea Otter Haven on Skye.

We stay at a place on the South shore of Loch Sunart and get otters and seals up close. The hide on the other side of the loch is also a good spot - Garbh Eilean Wildlife Hide.

Osprey - end of March may see the return of record breaking 'Lady' returning to Loch of the Lowes in Perthshire. Loch Garten for Osprey too.

Bottled Nosed Dolphins - can be photographed from the shore at Chanonry Point.

I have planned as far, as I'm going to go in March. The rest is being led by where the best chance of seeing wildlife is.
A few people have suggested the Isle of Skye, as this may be a good place to se Whales and dolphins, but I'm told it's the wrong time of year.

Isle of Skye has an otter bay head towards the south side of the isle, can't remember exactly where but its on the route to Ardvarsar (where I spent a few nights). You can get close enough to them from the huts along the bay, quite a dangerous little single track road along the mountain to get to it mind.

I went early April and there was lots to see.

loch trool is a good area, its a quite a compact area plus if you head out to stranraer and then go down the ise of wigtown there is a good RSPB reserve at the lighthouse

Hi guys
I've got a Sun holiday to Durmoch. The local web site does not give that much info, but it looks like Dinners suggestion for Chanonry will be very useful.

It looks like I'm an hour away from the Caimgorns. I heard this is also a good place for wild life.

Thanks
