SD to CF Converter?

Hello all.
I have just found some SD cards i had forgotten about that i used in my 40X.
I was wondering do the SD to Cf converters work? I only have a 30d so don't need a blinding fast card, so wondered if i could get away with it?

I use one of the 7-day shop ones in my D300 on the odd occasions that I run out of CF card space and find it works okay. It also gets used when I want to use my eye-fi card. Not good for high speed continuous shooting though

I am going to get one but only use it for a backup in case of an emergency.
