Good efforts Jerry, but I think the tight/close crops have revealed their limitations - can I suggest a less aggressive crop would 'mask' the poor focus/heat-haze?

Thanks for commenting, the Bokeh is a bit poor due to reed beds behind the bird which has resulted in the strange background.

I've tried a wider crop and agree I think it works better than the tight crop
