A few people on here pointed out how filthy my sensor was.
I have heard a few tragic stories of people trying to clean their sensor, having problems and destroying their camera.
I thought what the hell its worth the risk and if it all goes wrong I have the excuse to buy a new body..
Well the bad luck is it all went very well. I purchased a sensor cleaning kit from Crooked imaging. This came with fantastic instructions. you take pics, then you see how filthy your sensor is, you then lie upside down and use the blower thingy, next take some more pics and find out that your sensor is a lot cleaner than it was but with a row of stubborn marks on one side and some random stuff all across. then you use these surgically clean wipes on sticks with some magic fluid to clean your sensor. At this stage I felt inadequately clean so I had a shower and deep cleaned the kitchen as I thought this was the best place to do this job with all the hard surfaces etc.
After the cleaning I again took pics and checked the result and its like magic. all clean now
Unfortunately no excuses for a new body yet though....
so no more mucky pics from me
