Setting Sun

First shots at trying to get some good images of the setting sun
SW France last night

Any advice on taking shots of the sun would be much appreciated

I used f8 and max shutter speed 1/8000th - then a little PP - on first
f8 and ss 1/1000th on second

I used ISO 400 - but should have used ISO 100

Patrick - Nikon 300mm f2.8 VR + TC20Elll

but the Nikon AF-S 300mm f4 using the Nikon V1 and FT-1 will give similar results …….. it is just that I had that set up on my tripod, (set up for birds!), and you only get about 3 mins from the first to the last shot - i.e. full to none is less than 5 minutes

but be careful about using a NON DSLR - according to the article

So if you can't use the view finder then you have to use live mode. But isn't thee mirror up during live mode?

^^Yep - live view will expose your sensor!
