SHARP FF/1.3x wide angle options? (10-22 conversion? Nik 14-24?)

Sorry I still can't get my head round this. Ideally I want something equal in performance to 24-70L somewhere in the middle of the range (24mm is OK, but clearly the weakest spot). It has to be usable at f/4 and v. good at 5.6. My landscapes do end up for sale at agencies and my website, so I can't afford any more soft surprises from 17-40.

Currently I have:
24-70L - happy with it so 24+ is covered. It can't do nice sunstars so it's a little drawback, and 24/2.8 is not the world leading example

17-40L - I just don't know what is going on with the corners and edges and field of focus distortion. It needs f/11++ to get anything decent-ish. I don't care about sharp centre after all this. Nice colours and flare resistance is the only reason it is still with me.

16-35 I - apparently soft and flare prone (ok on 1.3?)
16-35 II - better than 17-40 but still not good enough? 1k is a lot for something far from perfect

17 / 24 TSE - look perfect except the eye watering price. Can they realistically be used off the tripod?

Zeiss 21mm - stupid price, lack of zoom, but again excellent IQ.
18mm - is it that good? again stupid price

Tokina 12-24 - had one, seem to work OK for sharpness, but had more flare, and the colours weren't up to L-level. For the price I may get another one for 250ish?
11-16 - too much vignetting, and apparently soft edges on FF - so I'll skip that
16-28 f/2.8 - sharper than C 16-35II, but lots of flare and no filters - how does that sound?
17-35 f/4 - v. unimpressed after testing at Focus

Tamron 17-35mm - simply well behind 17-40?
Sigma WAs - please don't go there! all too soft for me

Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 on adapter - no filters of course, and no aperture control unless I missed something I could always get D3 / D800 for it at a later date.

Butchered Canon 10-22 EF-S to EF mount - has been done before - works from 15mm+ but just how good is it??? I'd love to see 100% crops if possible. Cost ~430 on fleabay

Leica R, OM wa glass? They are not cheap after first look!

You'd have to get one of the special novoflex adaptors that lets you adjust the aperture on G lenses via the adapter

To throw another curve ball in, the samyang 14mm f/2.8 gets some astounding reviews, if you're willing to put up with manual focus, no zoom and complex (but apparently correctable) distortion.
Wouldn't break the bank to give it a try either.

Thanks, the Nikon could be an option but it's also getting quite expensive near the TSE territory!

I think I'll pass on the samyang as it's a bit wider than really needed, before I even consider it's drawbacks. The aim is clean 16/17-24mm region.

There are rumours of Zeiss launching their 15mm f/2.8 soon. The TS-E lens or a Zeiss 21mm would be in my bag though. Either that or get a D800E and a 14-24mm.
