Evening.

I've been asked to shoot and put together a whole portfolio for a brand spanking new model trying to enter the industry. The trouble is I've no idea what to charge.
I am, by no means an experienced photographer so obviously my fee's wouldn't be the norm of an professional.
I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance ;)

What's your portfolio like? The reason I ask is TFCD/P is always an option.

Make sure you charge a deposit (thats if you don't ask for payment upfront) between £25-75 so that if the model didn't like your images or never showed, you would at least be paid for your time for preparation or to cover a studio fee.

I began charging for portfolios offering packages for 5 images for £120 including a CD with high resolution and web sized files, also included additional editing afterwards.

It really depends on how long the shoot will be, how many images you will provide, whether you will need extra time editing and if you are providing prints. If you break this down this gives you an idea of time and whether the amount you charge is worth it.

hope that helps a little !

The reason I say about your portfolio is a TFCD shoot would be good to build yours up, and of course the new model's; not to say that you shouldn't charge if you haven't got a portfolio! If you're hiring studio space you can split the cost with the model of course.
