Unfortunately, yesterday's session with these was a dismal failure, with the birds keeping at a real distance.

So, these shots are from the week before, when I had a bit more luck.

Taken with a Canon 50D, 500mm F4 + 1.4TC, tripod-mounted.

I love the top one. Great capture. You have the wings just in slight blur showing motion but its head in focus which I think looks good!

Those eyes in 2 look really intense, shame about the crop of the wing though!

Cheers - I cropped in a bit on the 2nd one, because I clipped the wing on the main shot, it flew so close by, I would have had to be spot on to fit it in the frame... and I was swinging the camera around trying to follow the bird as it flew by. Not easy, I can tell you.

Hence I cropped in a bit more, to show off the face more and make the best of a bodged job!
