Should I replace my 5d2 with another 7d?

I currently own a 7d and a 5d mk ii.

I love the 5d, but after getting a 7d as a second body I've found I use it more. More AF points and more advance AF generally seem to be the main draw along with the more ergonomic body.

However, I do love how the 16-35 performs on the 5d's FF sensor, and I prefer the 5d's "on switch" (a strange reason to prefer a camera perhaps?) Another + for the 5d is the high ISO performance. Notably better than the 7D above 1600/3200

If I sold the 5d I would have at least enough for another 7d and a flash or cheapish lens.

What I shoot varies, which is the main reason I opted for one of each camera, rather than two of the same. Weddings are something I enjoy shooting more now than before and I hope to add more bookings for 2010.

I guess what I really want is the "fabled" 3D or a 5Dmkiii - a 7D with a FF sensor.

Anyway, thoughts from others? Keep the 5Dii or switch to another 7D?

TBH this is your choice, if you are not using a camera then its dead money I suppose.

Sounds to me like you've got the best of worlds for the varied stuff you like to shoot. Unless you habitually shoot with two cameras and want to simplify controls when swapping bodies on the fly,I'm struggling to see a compelling reason for another 7D.

Swapping the 5D2 to finance kit you needed would be a good enough reason, but you seem to be a bit vague on what you need/want? I'm not sure replacing a quality body with a 'cheapish' lens is a wise swap?

I'd give it a lot of thought.

FYI The "cheapish" lens would be a 50mm 1.4 it's next on a long line of acquisitions. Although a few more jobs would see that cost covered without loosing the 5d2

Th 5Diii or this Fable 3D is not going to be out for another year at least, the 5D is merely 15 months old, and thats not long for a pro body's life cycle, judging by the original 5D, it's only about 40% through it.

As for what you use it for, I am surprise you want a 7D for weddings, I would usre a 5Dii for weddings over a 7D personally, like you said the 16-35 is magic on FF.

Don't get me wrong I love my 7D, I think it's the most exciting camera from Canon for ages and it's perfect for the bulk of the stuff I do.

The 50mm 1.4 is a cracking lens. I swapped mine for the 50mm 1.2 and about the only time I hanker after full frame is when I use that lens or the 17-40 at the wide end. Not often enough to justify a FF body, and I'd use the EOS 3 anyway.

I don't agree. IMO the 7D exists because Nikon through down the gauntlet with the D300. It's only a matter of time until Nikon release the D700x (i.e. FF with 24mp), and whilst it might time Canon sometime to do it, I can't see them missing out on competing with it.
