Just pulled the trigger on one of these. I feel guilty, but apparently I saved over £400 according to Amazon. So thats got rid of the guilt.

Can't wait until tomorrow!!

I have one as well... Incredibly sharp wide open and like a razor stopped down a tad! The OS works really well too!

For the money, I can't fault it at all. :)

Ok it's just arrived, the first few test photos are beautiful!

My only 'worry' is that the OS makes a slight grunching noise when it activates and deactivates. Is this normal for this lens?
 
I'm off out in a minute, I'll post some up when I get back :)

doesnt sound normal, i have a150-500 and a 17-70 with OS and i never notice any noise from them

Thanks Phil, this had me concerned for a bit so I googled it, and indeed it would appear normal, phew! It's inly when it engages and disengages, actual operation when running is silent. Right, off out I go!

Just to confirm. I also have this lens and mine also makes a grunching ?? noise when the OS kicks in. Like you I thought it was a fault but apparently not.
Other than that it is a cracking lens.
 
Well I'm well and truely stunned by this lens. The sharpness and detail is sublime, even compared to my Canon 85mm f/1.8. Not only is it a great Macro lens, its a damn fine prime / portrait lens in its own right.

Here are a few shots from today, though I was 'blessed' with strong winds and dull weather today, which made the Macro stuff a little tricky!

There a good lens. I bought on off the forum a few weeks ago and am well impressed.
