Hi,
I recently got a 5D from ebay and a Sigma 15-30mm as well
But then when I try and use it indoor.
Seems that the Sigma lens doesn't give me sharp pictures.
As I use it to compare with my Olympus E-P1 with 14-42mm lens.

Here is some pictures and I will define which is which and see if you think it is the lens problem or body problem.
Thanks All

Focus on the LG logo at 15mm

Focus on the LUMIX at 15mm, ISO1600

Focus on the LUMIX at 30mm, ISO1600

E-P1 at 20mm, ISO 1600, Focused on the LUMIX.

Please give me some comments on whether it is my problem or any other problem.
Thanks All
Also the pictures can be clicked to link to my photobucket to view original size.

Also want to mention the focusing sound is not quiet at all. It is like using a automatic screw driver when focusing.....
Which is pretty not a good thing for me personally

Kevin

Sigma lenses are plagued by this pot luck sharpness (or lack of).

Perhaps it's a bad copy?

I dont really know if it is a bad copy or not.
But is there any chance that I can check it myself?
If other people use my lens will they have the same problem as me?

The 'Focus on Lumix' shot's look OK to me ?????
The 'Focus on LG' is a bit off though.

We've only one E-P1 image to compare but....

5D with Sigma 15-30mm @ 30mm, ISO 1600 F4.5 1/10sec Focused on the LUMIX

looks better than....

E-P1 with 14-42mm kit lens. ISO 1600 F3.5, 1/15sec Focused on the LUMIX

Can see that 5D is a lot better than E-P1 @ ISO 1600
But then both seems focused at the correct place.
For me how can you see that the LG is a bit off?

Does that means my lens and 5D is alright?

Thanks
Kevin

So does that means nothing wrong with my lens and body?
Is it the Sigma a bit soft as this lens is quite cheap?!

Given the F numbers your at the depth of field will be narrow so what is in fron of and behind your focus point may apper soft or out of focus. try retaking the pics in shutter mode at f11 and again at f22 then compare.
