I've had this lens since the start of the year and I've used it countless times and got some fantastic photos from it. However, at the end of last month I was out shooting some wildlife, squirrels mostly, and had the lens on my 7D. It suddenly started making the viewfinder go dark and locked up the camera, it was my 7D that I was using, and then giving an error message (just coming up ERR with no number).

I swapped lenses with my 5D3 and put my Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS L MkII on the 7D and the Sigma on the 5D3. The 7D worked perfectly with the 70-200 on and I managed to get some great photos from this pairing. I tried using the Sigma on my 5D3 and while it worked physically, nearly all the resulting photos were soft. I only got a couple of decent shots with the Sigma and 5D3 afterwards and all the photos since have been really poor.

I contacted Panamoz, who I bought it from, yesterday and they immediately emailed to return it to their London address and they will inspect it asap. They said if there's a problem they will just send a new lens instead of getting it repaired. Here's hoping I get it sorted soon as the wife keeps looking daggers at me when I grab her Sigma 120-400 OS to go shooting.

Has anyone else had any similar problems with these lenses, I've heard a few stories of them having focussing faults, but this lens has worked excellently up till now.

Well by the looks of it not many of these lenses have gone bad by the amount of posts. Just a quick update, I've had an email from Panamoz today with a tracking number for a brand new Sigma 150-500 OS and it's due for delivery on friday 23rd.

From contacting Panamoz to ask about a warranty return to receiving a 'new' lens it will have taken 11 days. After reading some of the problems people have with getting warranty work sorted I have to say, 11 days is a very good amount of downtime. I'd been expecting 3 to 4 weeks at least so a BIG THANK YOU to Panamoz for the service.

The forum will represent a very small minority of users of the lens. Maybe no more than a hundred or two. You'd want to sample a population of tens or hundreds of thousands, unless it is really bad of course.

Give it some viagra?

Good news Stuart............
