Hi all,
Im looking at the above to use as a travelling/holiday lens coupled with my Canon 50d body.
Anybody got one, got any opinions on it?
Current equipment is as follows.
Canon 50d
Canon EFS 17-85 USM IS
Canon EFS 55-250 IS
Tamron 70-300 LD DI
Sigma EX 70-200 2.8 HSM
Bit much to carry for a holiday :-), so would the 18-250 make a good "all rounder" for when travelling light?

I've got one, and whilst it is convenient when travelling, I don't think the quality is any better than the 18-55mm kit lens at the short end and probably worse than the 55-250mm at the long end.

Here's a couple of pictures at either end from a recent weekend trip to Athens:

Im not looking for perfection which i believe would be impossible in a lens with this range, im looking for a good all rounder to pack (have you seen Ryanair's weight limits!!).
What would you say are its pros/cons after a years use?

Pros
Excellent range (almost 14x magnification from 18-250)
Well built and not too heavy or long
Good value for money (extra 50mm over Canon lens and about £200 cheaper)

Cons
A little soft around the edges, especially beyond 150mm
Lens creeps when carrying on a shoulder strap (although it does have a lock switch)
Zoom ring can be a little stiff when extending the lens upward

No doubt it's a good all rounder, and if you are happy with it's limitations pretty good value for money.

No more "sneaky" attempts to sell outside the classifieds! Sorry:shake:
