Anyone used both these lenses? The tamron is about £150 more as it has vibration control but on these focal lengths for a walkabout I'm not sure how important this is.

I can't justify stretching to the canon 17-55 price and so I figure if the sigma is as good as the tamron minus the IS then does it make sense to get it. I feel like if I went for the tamron I may as well put in the extra and go for the canon

anyones thoughts?

My VC Tamron is alot sharper than and produces better colours/contrast than a friends Sigma, and he got a good copy of the Sigma. With the non VC being as good (better in some cases it would seem) as the VC version then to me the Tamron is a no brainer :)

Hi What's the Tamron 17-50mm lens like for landscape photography? I'm looking into lenses for landscapes and Tamron is one of the lenses I came across :)

On POTN there is a thread dedicated to example shots of from the 17-50. Should give you an idea. It's wide enough for sweeping landscapes and as long as the lens isn't faulty it should do the job nicely.....obviously this depends how wide you want to go :)
