Sigma 24-70 non DG

Hi there, I'm looking to get this lens but it'll be the older spec ,The one i'm looking into is the non DG version ,how will this perform seeing as it's not a dedicated digital lens .

If it's the non-macro and non-hsm one, then I use one on my D700. It's fine, not outstanding, but I had no money left over from buying the camera body for a top lens, so I used this as I had one for my F100 film body. It's a big heavy thing that will seriously unbalance your camera if you've got a small, light body.
