Sigma 300mm F2.8 APO EX DG HSM

Not had one Gramps but I looked into it before I bought the canon 300 2.8...To many stories about them and the large differences between different copies...I went for the 120-300 and then on to the 300mm canon...
 
Im after the 50-500mm os as well can't find a s/h one any where
found a few non os ones but they want as much if not more that they can currently be bought new
best I have found so far is OS new digital rev £960
non OS warehouse express £460

I really think the OS is a must have for any Sigma 500mm length telephoto lenses, i wouldn't buy a lens that long without it,
seriously you are not going to get 1/500th shutter speed or higher when you need it at f6.3.
For instance i can handhold 1/100th sec @ 500mm and get away with a fairly sharp shot.

I totally agree image stabilisation would be a must just don't like the price at the moment spent too much on kit of late
