theres a guy on POTN selling a good 120-300 for £1,000, its seems a good one, he sent me some straight out of the camera images and its sharp enough, you might need an account to view it, ive got a Canon 300 lined up and to be honest if i was a little short i would have bought this
I've got one and I love it. Takes the 1.4X TC well, is quick to focus and has decent build quality. I don't shoot much sport, but here are a few shots from the lens;
Haven't got or used the 100-300 so can't compare. But if you get either for a decent price, you should be laughing.
Regrettably, when I look back at my stock (premiership Rugby / FA football) it is amazing as to how many images this lens cost me.....
When I switched to the Canon lens the keeper ratio went up massively. When I moved to Nikon, over the course of one Rugby season, I missed nothing and if I did, it were pilot error, when I was looking at women, not the rugby....!
Focusing speed slows a little, but not a huge amount and it can hunt more in poor light, but generally it is still very usable. IQ is still perfectly fine (Kingfisher shot is with the 1.4X). I used to have the 2X, but I thought that effected IQ too much.
