Hi there im new:wave:

Anyway im looking to buy a new lens, and the lens in question is the title holder, The Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8.

The thing is i have been digging about for some info and found about three models of this lens (im nikon mount bye the way)

I have also read to go for the non macro version, can anybody shed some light on this?

sigma have made 3 versions of this lens, i've owned two, the 1st version was the non macro, which is very sharp, in the macro version they sacrificed some of the sharpness @ f/2.8 to accommodate the macro facility, the MK II macro which is the latest version is supposed to be as good as the 1st version but 2x the price at the moment

Yeah i did notice the price is a bit higher, to be honest though im looking at second hand as new prices are crazy at the mo.

I am looking at a few on ebay but want to be sure i buy the best/right one.

Thanks.

I'd go for the Mk 1 non macro, i've had 2 of those over the last 5 years and they were both excellent

I've got the non macro DG version and love it. I would certainly recommend it if you can find one.

cant see this one at £399 Flash but im new to the site you mention.

I have seen a few and some without boxes, how important is having the box? I know it's only a box but im thinking if i ever sell it on how pickie will people be about having the box.

Also is there anything i should be looking for or asking before i buy?

Hello folks are you's all bright eyed and bushie tailed,,, I would love some advice asap here as im wondering if i should maybe be getting the lens new.

Thanks...

Although not a Nikon user when I decided to buy one I did some searching and came to the conclusion the MKI was the best and so went for one of those. It's nice and sharp at 200mm even wide open and is actually pretty good with both the 1.4x and 2x DG EX converters.
