Sigma APO 135-400mm F4.5-5.6 lens

Hi can anyone let me know if this lens is any good and if it will be compatible with the canon 350d. I am interested in bird photography and would like to know if it would be suitable for this purpose.

Hi - I used to own an early Sigma 135-400mm lens, sure it was an APO model and didn't have any DC tag and it worked fine on my Canon 350D. I sold it to a friend with a 400D and it's worked fine with that. As a cheap lens, it is ok, but I found the images a little soft, possibly not helped by me having a cheaper filter on it. (I mainly used it for aircraft photography.) The zoom was also mildy annoying as you can't lock it, and if you let the lens hang downwards, it slides down/outwards to the full extension. Eventually upgraded to the Canon 100-400 with a decent filter, and have been much happier with my photos with the Canon lens.
