I've just bought one on Evilbay. It only had a couple of minutes left to run when I saw it, did a quick search but in the short time I had to make a decision I couldn't find a great deal out about them

So have I dropped a bo**ock? :D

I was after a fast, widish lens for mi D7000, the focal length and 2.8 is what I was looking for, but have to confess there's that many variations of lenses I never really know what I'm looking at :oops: :$

Any thoughts on the Sigma Ex 17-35 2.8-4 D?, good or bad?, cheers :)
 
Amazing, something, that no one, has an opinion on! :D

Its either that rare its worth a fortune or that poor no one wants to tell me I've wasted mi money

Ah well, it should be on its way,I found a few reviews, opinions seem divided, think its the older version which isn't the best but hopefully should still auto focus on the D7000.
 
I have the Sigma 17-35mm 2.8-4 EX for Canon..

I bought it for a crop sensor at first, but works well on my full frame now. I do most of my star trails and night photography on it..
As well as groups at weddings/events.

To be honest, it's the best £90 i've spent on camera gear, but at the same time it was only £90 and you get what you pay for..

It's not the fastest or quietest focusing Lens I have, but i've not had any soft issues and for what I use it for, it's fitting the bill quite well

Always ask questions later after you get the job done. I thought this applied to another profession, but maybe I'm wrong. You shall find out about the lens in a couple of days without us telling you anything. Remember you get what you pay for.

Thanks Ben,that's what I've bought it for, mainly night shots. I know exactly what you mean by 'you get what you pay for'. I had a Sigma 70-300 for 18 months and for the money (I paid £60 second hand for that) I was very happy with the results and would recommend it if buying on a budget . I've just paid £106 pound for the 17-35, looking at the one or two others on Ebay, its about the going price, time will tell I suppose, cheers

That's a bit too cryptic for me, I've only bought a 2nd hand lens off fleabay not rented a room to some psychotic killer :p its crap would have done just as well :LOL:

50% positive so far so not all bad :D

I have the Canon version, over ten years now, dropped it four years ago & the auto focus stopped but still use it as I mostly before used manual anyway.
Still gives good enough shots but have been considering the new canon 16-35mm f/4L as it has been a long while I have had the lens.
