Sigma hoods compared to Canon

I have a Canon 70-200 f2.8 and was looking at someones Sigma equivalent the other day (think it was Sigma...). It had a segment removed from the base of the hood for spinning a CPL filter round. Sounds like a great idea and getting very tempted to take the dremel to the Canon hood!
