Sigma lens for macro

Would a Sigma 24mm f2.8 Super Wide II Macro Lens be ok with a reversing ring be a good buy for macro photography? It will be used on a Nikon D700

not sure some of the superwides have issues as they are quite old - I bought one a while back and it was awful - got a refund! You could go for a zeiss 50mm m42 as they have manual aperture rings that would be spot on...
